Council for Airport Opportunity (CAO) Updates and Job Opportunities

Next Community Board 14 meeting is Tuesday, October 10th at 7pm (agenda below)

Rockaway History Fact: The indigenous inhabitants of the Rockaways were the Canarsie Indians, a band of Mohegan, whose name was associated with the geography. By 1639, the Mohegan tribe sold most of the Rockaways to the Dutch West India Company. In 1664, the English defeated the Dutch colony and took over their lands in present-day New York.

Updates from Elected Officials

A Train Service Interruption

Notification of Rockaway Track Replacement work taking place on the following weekends in October:

Friday, October 6th at 11:30 PM thru Monday, October 9th at 5:00 AM

Friday, October 13th at 11:30 PM thru Monday, October 16th at 5:00 AM

Friday, October 20th at 11:30 PM thru Monday, October 23rd at 5:00 AM

There will be no A train between Euclid Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard and Howard Beach JFK Airport. Customers will need to take free shuttle buses.

The A train will run in two sections:

Between 207th Street and Euclid Avenue

Between Howard Beach – JFK Airport and Far Rockaway – Mott Avenue Station.

Free Shuttle Buses will run along two routes:

Express between Euclid Av and Howard Beach – JFK (stopping at Acqueduct-North Conduit Av, towards Euclid Av only).

Local, making all stops between Euclid Av and Lefferts Blvd/Howard Beach – JFK Airport.

Customers can transfer between trains and free shuttle buses at Euclid Ave which is an ADA accessible station and/or Howard Beach – JFK Airport which is also ADA accessible.

For JFK Airport, customers should take the E train.Beginning Monday, September 25th thru Friday, October 20th just on weekdays Monday to Friday from 10:30 PM to 5:00 AM there will be No A train between Euclid Avenue, Brooklyn and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd Queens.







  1. Between Inwood-207th Street and Euclid Avenue

  2. Between Rockaway Blvd and Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue


Election Day is November 7th. There are a few of our elected officials that are up for re-election and Judges as well. BHPOA is having a Queens DA Candidate Night at P.S. 114 on October 17th.

Register to Vote. Find out who’s on the ballot and what District you belong to and where to vote.

October is Hispanic Heritage Month, Cancer Awareness Month and National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
