STOLEN PACKAGES

I've received complaints of packages being stolen in front of some of our neighboring houses. We must remain vigilant and remember that there's an uptick in package theft. As a civic we will request more police presence but it's not always promised that we'll receive it. As per the update at last night's 101st pct community council meeting, the NYPD hired more police in our area. In the meantime here are a few things you can do in addition to reporting a crime of any sort.
1. If you have a RING doorbell or any other monitoring device, pls make sure it's always recording and connected to a strong wifi signal. If you don't have one, ask your neighbors around you...it takes a village.
2. If you see something, say something. It's best to get ahead of the situation rather than waiting for something to happen. For the most part, we all know, or should know who lives on the block or who frequents the block. If anything looks suspicious, report it.
3. Whomever you're ordering from, request a signature or request they ring the doorbell when dropping off packages.
4. Attend ECCA meetings regularly which is bi-monthly (every other month), on the first Monday of the month (next meeting is July 10th, which is a week following the holiday). Also attend the 101st pct community council meeting which is every third Wednesday of the month at Church of God Christian Academy, 1288 Central Ave. or join on Zoom.
**Should you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
