New Sensors in Edgemere and Arverne!

Update on three new sensor installs in Edgemere and Arverne. Our sensor engineers had a packed day of sensor maintenance and installations across Queens last Friday, and ran into a couple of technical issues in the field. However, they were still able to install sensors at Beach 66th St/Thursby Ave, Beach 72nd St/Almeda Ave, and Beach 35 St/Beach Channel Dr, joining existing sensors on Beach 84th St and Beach 43rd St:

The new sensors are up on our data dashboard--(fortunately) they haven't measured any flooding yet, but you can view their data at https://dataviz.floodnet.nyc/! Feel free to reach out with any questions about sensor data or about FloodNet more broadly.

I also want to share another exciting update with you all--FloodNet is committed to building a strong network of community partnerships, and we are in the process of onboarding our new Community Engagement Manager, Véronëque Ignace, to lead us in this effort. Véronëque is an NYC native with a background in public health, community-based participatory research, and cultural activism that informs her community engagement. She's currently working to get up to speed on the many facets of FloodNet and will be in touch in the coming weeks to introduce herself and coordinate next steps with you.
