In case you are wondering about the activity that's going on in the empty lot on Rockaway Beach Blvd. between Beach 39th and Beach 40th St, please see attached flyer. Enjoy your day!
There was a last minute emergency meeting held on Friday night at 8pm about this revival tent. Unbeknownst to me, there were residents in Edgemere who felt that this would be a problem at this location. The meeting was held via Zoom and hosted by Councilmember Brooks-Powers. Evangelist Jackson was in attendance representing the Church along with a small number of residents. My apologies as there wasn't enough time to send out the invite as I was notified 10min prior to the meeting and I was on my way to attend my nephew's graduation dinner. Those who were on the call expressed their concerns and I felt that the arrival of the revival tent was poorly planned as no one reached out to the civic to let us know that this was coming. The civic also felt there should have been a meeting with the Edgemere residents, Solid Rock Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Councilmember to make us aware so we can express our concerns and requests. No one on the call, including the civic, had or has nothing against the church, parishioners or the arrival of the revival tent but a meeting would have sufficed and an emergency meeting wouldn't have been necessary. Below was the outcome of the meeting.
1. Councilmember Brooks-Powers gave an apology for not notifying the civic and promised to make any new activity known to the civic and it's residents going forward.
2. A school is officially coming to this lot as it's owned by the School Construction Authority and the BOE.
3. Evangelist Jackson promised to have everything cleared out by 9:30p although their permit is up to 10p.
4. Evangelist Jackson promised that the parishioners will not park on residential streets and they have security to maintain this action.
5. Evangelist Jackson promised that any trash will be cleaned by their staff.
6. Evangelist Jackson gave an open invitation to the community to attend as they are holding praise up to 4 days per week for the entire month of June.
**If you experience any issues pls notify the civic and we will address them promptly to Evangelist Jackson.
